DAPP Task 2: Skills development
In my skills development wheel, I have picked out skills which I believe are the most important to have as a coach and I rated myself fairly on all skills at the start of this year and from then I have developed and recognized my work more, so I was able to reflect and rate myself again based on new skills.
I chose communication as an important skill " being an effective communicator is a distinguished characteristic of expert coaches." (Bloom, 1996) as it is something will do on a day-to-day basis so itis easy to recognize. On first look at communication, I rated myself as a 7/10 as I thought I am okay at it could be better whereas my mentor scored me at an 8/9 but now after teaching a few sessions and completing some training sessions and planning and reviewing I have scored myself as a 9/10 as I know there is a few things I can work on but I belief my communication is good and will progress with experience.
other skills I have added are unusual ones such as demonstrations as it is a skill I need to work on as I tend to overtalk therefore at the start I have rated myself a 6/10 and at the end I have left it at a 6/10 as I it is a skill I am struggling to do and need working putting them into play and demonstrating the games more.
Another skill is problem solving as I rated myself an 8/10 at the start but my mentor rated me a 6/10 and after reviewing what I have done in practice I scored myself a 7/10 as when put in to play I agree with my mentor that I am not as good as I thought as I need to be able to know what to do if more or less kids turn up to a practice then original said... have I got enough equipment or can i still be able to play the game? are all things I worry about when teaching but I need to put that problem solving into action.

Your skills development wheel Ellie looks great I can clearly see that from your first self and mentor score you have improved pretty much across the board. I like how you have expanded on a few skills to link research into your answers. When it comes to referencing a direct quote start the quotation on a new line and indent the entire block of text.
ReplyDelete"For example you may quote an element from Blooms research like this
(Bloom, 1996)."
In addition to this try to paraphrase more research including explanation as this showcases your knowledge and researching skills better than just directly quoting.
Also don't forget to read your assignment before submission at the start of your 3rd paragraph you missed a capital O on Other skills.
I would like to have seen you create a plan to move forward with this now you have identified areas you have improved on are there any that still require progressing and do you have any suggested ways you could reasonably look to improve these skills?
With your referencing don't forget to use the first name as well as punctuation within example:
